Hiawatha: Keeping Folk Music Alive
This year marks the 38th annual Hiawatha Music Festival, put on by the Hiawatha Music Co-op. It is a well known festival in Marquette, promoting appreciation of traditional American music & dance. So well known & appreciated, that the Hiawatha Music Co-op has been the recipient of the 2016 Upper Peninsula Folklife Award.
Many people enjoy & celebrate a weekend of musical talent & family oriented activities, while camping & enjoying the local scene. There is much to do in Marquette for visitors of this festival, including exploring the many local beaches, hiking the endless trails, indulging in local food & drink, & shopping the downtown local stores.
It is an honor for Marquette to celebrate the tradition of American music & dance. There is a long list of talent this year including Guy Davis, The Jeremy Kettle Trio, Red Tail Ring, The Henrie Brothers, Stolen Sweets, The Dead Pigeons, The Charlie Lynch Band, Les Poules a Colin, Jonathan Byrd & The Pickup Cowboys, Dean Magraw & Peter Ostroushko.
This July 22nd - 24th join in on the fun of the Hiawatha Music Festival!
