Gordon Gearhart: Blacksmith

Iron Arts at Donckers Local Marquette Artist, Gordon Gearhart, will be displaying his metalwork at Donckers for a July & August art exhibition. Gordon is a well known blacksmith in Marquette & beyond, with a backround in sheetmetal & foundry work. After studing blacksmithing & sculpture at Northern Michigan University, Gordon worked in Colorado before opening a shop in Marquette in which he produces architectural, sculptural & utilitarian metalwork. In addition to a store front, Gordon produces many commission works as well as work for fine art & craft shows. It is a pleasure for Donckers to display & celebrate diverse forms of fine art with local cultural impact. Gordon's exhibition may be viewed in the months of July & August in Donckers. ...

Hiawatha Music Festival

Hiawatha: Keeping Folk Music Alive This year marks the 38th annual Hiawatha Music Festival, put on by the Hiawatha Music Co-op. It is a well known festival in Marquette, promoting appreciation of traditional American music & dance. So well known & appreciated, that the Hiawatha Music Co-op has been the recipient of the 2016 Upper Peninsula Folklife Award.  Many people enjoy & celebrate a weekend of musical talent & family oriented activities, while camping & enjoying the local scene.
